Overview of Research Cell of Bahra University
In order to strengthen and expand the research activities in the institute, R&D cell was established and is functioning in this Institution from last several years.
Research is the essential footstep of innovation that plays a significant role in the Universities. Bahra University, Shimla Hills, HP, is a research and innovation driven University and committed to promote research, extension, entrepreneurship and innovation, through ensuring, the outcomes of research useful for the benefit of humanity at both the national and global levels. Research and Development Cell (RDC), Bahra University has made enthusiastic efforts to align its focus through maintaining a research based eco system in the University by involving all staff, faculty, and students.
The Research and Development Cell (RDC), Bahra University believe in promoting and supporting to all of the students and faculty to conduct various research based accomplishments, which include publications in international and national reputed indexed journals and conferences of repute, book publications, patents, projects, organization of conference/workshops/seminars in various emerging areas.
Major Goals / Objective of Research Cell of Bahra University
- To encourage research activities in various frontier areas of science and technology and others.
- Encourage and incentivize faculty for research publications in SCI and Scopus indexed or other equivalent peer-reviewed / reputed and indexed journals.
- To augment the research output of the University by research paper publication in referred journals and reputed conferences.
- To promote University-Industry Collaboration.
- To encourage Core Proficiency and Consultancy work.
- To organize various workshops/ seminar/ trainings related to promotion of research.
- To create awareness about filing Patents & IPR and to motivate all faculty and students
- To coordinate with different Schools/Departments for preparing and finalized the six monthly /annual research activity plans.
- To Create MoU’s with Industries, Institutions and R&D organizations for joint research work and consultancy projects.
- To organize brainstorming session through talks with eminent personalities from industry, R&D organizations and institutions of repute.

About Dean Research
Dr. Shripad Markande is working as Professor & Head in Department of Mathematics, Dean Academic Affairs and Dean Research at Bahra University. He has completed his M. Sc. (Mathematics) from Karnataka University, Dharwad and Holds doctoral degree in Fluid Dynamics from Bangalore University. He has published 12 papers in reputed National & International Research Journals and also presented research papers in various National & International Conferences in India & Abroad. He has guided many students of M.Tech., and B.Tech., for their dissertation. He was the Vice President of a reputed research organization in Applied Mechanics, from IIT Kharagpur, “Indian Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics”(ISTAM). He was the resource person many FDP Programs conducted by State and Pvt. Universities. He has organized various national and international level workshops in the area of Engineering.
He also served at various leading universities in northern part of India, at various administrative positions like Dean- Academics, Dean- Student Welfare, Controller of Examinations etc. He was involved in curriculum development of various courses.
He was consultant for various Industries like Grid R&D, Xyo Olympiad Centre etc. He served as Director Academic Programs for an online education Industry, CLI InfoTech for one year.
About Research Cell Members
Dr. Abhilasha Chauhan,
Assistant Professor, School of Management.
Dr. Abhilasha Chauhan has completed her Ph.D. in Management from Jaypee University of Information Technology, Waknaghat in the year 2017. She has 9.5 years of experience in academics. Dr. Chauhan has published more than eight research papers in reputed indexed journals. She has presented papers in various National and International conferences. Dr. Chauhan has also attended various seminars, workshops, FDPs etc. She has reviewed papers in various reputed Scopus indexed journals. Dr. Abhilasha is also certified from I.B.M. for Service Oriented Architecture course. She has also received the participation certificate from NAF (National Adventure Foundation) camp. Dr. Chauhan has a total 74 citations and her h-index is 4. She has one international conference and Faculty Development Programme in her credit as an organizing committee member.
She has been a resource person in an online refresher course on Research Management and taken a session on Team building conducted by AAREM, CCS, Hisar. She has been a resource person to Capacity Building Series and delivered a talk on Classroom and Effective Teaching at Bahra University. Delivered a lecture to school students on Career Exploration.
She has designed entrance examination papers for Ph.D candidates at university level. Designed final/entrance examination paper for the course of Marketing Management for Ph.D/M.Phil candidates for IEC University Baddi. Dr. Chauhan has extended her expertise in ‘Syllabus Content Feedback – Academician’ under Area Advisory Board activity for the conduct of Board of Studies in 03 years BBA (Tourism Management) course; Amity Institute of Travel and Tourism, Amity University, Noida.
Dr. Pooja Puri
Assistant Professor, School of Basic Sciences
Dr. Pooja Puri has completed her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Thapar University, Patiala in the year 2016. She has more than 08 years of experience. Dr. Puri has published more than eight research papers in SCI indexed, Springer and reputed journals. She has also presented research papers in various National and International conferences. She is a lifetime member Material research Society of India. Dr. Puri is reviewer of many reputed journals like Optoelectronics and ICE. She has been awarded with best paper for presenting a research paper in ICPPC-2010. Dr. Pooja Puri has a total 83 citations and her h-index is 6.
Dr. Rahul Berry
Assistant Professor, School of Management
Dr. Rahul Berry has completed his Ph.D. in Management from Bahra University, Waknaghat in the year 2021. He has more than 11 years of teaching experience. Dr. Berry is UGC-NET qualified in Management. Dr. Berry has published more than five research papers in reputed journals. He has also presented research papers in various National and international conferences. He has also attended various seminars, workshops, FDPs etc. Dr. Berry has received a best teacher award in the year 2017.
Dr. Kamal Kashyap,
Assistant Professor,
Dr. Kamal has completed his M.Tech From HPTU Hamirpur , Himachal Pradesh in 2015 and Ph. D from Shoolini University in the field of Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Kamal has to total six year of experience. During his academic tenure, he has published more than 21 research papers in various indexed journals of repute. Five patents are also in the credit of Dr. Kamal account.
Mr. Pradeep Kumar
Research Office Administrator.
Mr. Pradeep Kumar has a rich experience of more than five years in academics. He has excellent proficiency in data management system and various file management techniques. As one of the core member of Research and Development Cell, Bahra University, Mr. Pradeep is responsible to take care of various task related to Ph. D admission, Viva Voce conduction etc. The work related to NAAC, University Grants Commission (UGC), National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), National Academic Depository (NAD Work) and other Academic students registration work are also the main part under the role of Mr. Pradeep. He has also attended more than three conferences & seminars.
